Birth Wishes

You are free to write down your birth wishes. In such a document, you can describe what is important to you during the delivery. It helps to reflect on your expectations, wishes, and what gives you a sense of calm and confidence.

For us, it is mainly a way to get to know you better. Not as a fixed plan, but as a guideline for what is important to you.
Writing down birth wishes is not mandatory. During the check-ups, we take the time to discuss this together, so we can support you as best as possible in a way that suits you.

You can write down your birth wishes yourself, but it is also possible to get support with this. For example, you can have a birth plan created via www.bbbevallen.nl if that feels comfortable for you.

What can you think of?

Perhaps it helps to ask yourself a number of questions:

About the environment

  • Where do I feel most relaxed to give birth
  • What helps me to calm down
  • Do I want music, dimmed light, or just quiet

About guidance and support

  • Who do I want to be present at my birth
  • What helps me when the contractions become intense
  • How do I want to be supported

About dealing with pain

  • What seems helpful to me when in pain
  • Am I open to different forms of pain relief
  • What are my preferences regarding pain relief

About the delivery itself

  • In which position do I want to give birth
  • Do I want to move or stay in one place
  • What feels important to me during pushing

About after the birth

  • How do I envision the first moments with my baby
  • What do I find important in the first hour together
  • Who wants to cut the umbilical cord

Room for flexibility

Every birth is different. Sometimes it goes differently than you had previously thought. Therefore, we do not see birth wishes as something that is fixed, but as something that moves with the moment.

No matter what happens, we will continue to look together at what is needed and what feels good for you.
