# How we guide

How we guide Every birth is unique and has its own pace. No two births are the same. However, most labors go through several phases. During this process, we stand by your side, monitor the health of mother and baby, and guide you step by step. The early phase A labor often begins calmly. You feel light, irregular contractions or a dull feeling in your abdomen or lower back. Your body is preparing: the cervix becomes softer and starts to change slowly. Many women find it pleasant to be at home during this phase, to rest or to move around a bit. It is a period in which you gradually work toward labor in your own way. The first phase of dilation The contractions become more regular and stronger. In between contractions, there is often time to catch your breath. Your body gradually prepares itself, and the cervix opens slowly. In this phase, many women look for their own rhythm. What is helpful varies by person; rest, movement, warmth, showering, or the presence of someone you trust. The active dilation phase The contractions follow each other more quickly and become more intense. Often, you turn more inward and let yourself be guided by the rhythm of your body. Dilation progresses further toward full opening. This is a phase in which your body works hard and demands a lot of your focus. We are close by, ensuring calm and supporting you where needed, in a way that suits you. The pushing phase When the cervix is fully opened, the urge to push usually arises naturally. Your body takes over most of the work and helps you bring your baby into the world. This is a powerful and intense moment where everything comes together, and you meet your baby for the first time. The placental phase After the birth of your baby, the placenta follows. This usually happens within half an hour. We guide this calmly and keep a close watch on how you're doing, such as blood loss and how you feel. Trust in your body Your body is made to give birth. It often knows exactly what to do, step by step, in a way that suits you. Every birth is different, and sometimes it goes differently than you had expected. Whatever happens, we will look for what you need together and ensure appropriate support in each phase. We believe in trusting your body, in calmness, and in personal guidance. In conclusion A birth does not always go exactly as expected. Whatever happens, we will stand by your side and think along about what is needed at that moment.
